According to a new survey conducted by Angus Reid, 4 out of 5 Canadians are committed to buying
more Canadian products overall in response to the tariffs enacted by the U.S. Nearly half of the survey
respondents plan on replacing purchases with domestic substitutes when they are available. The same
survey showed that 41% of Canadians also plan to shift their purchases away from online retail giants
like Amazon in favor of Canadian businesses. This creates a unique opportunity for local business owners

This can be evidenced by the graph below, which shows an initial spike in search terms such as “Made in
Canada” when the tariffs were first announced. However, these queries have remain elevated,
indicating that Canadian consumers are actively researching Canadian made products before making
purchases.
